Surgical Critical Care

Our team provides critical care services for our sickest surgical and traumatically injured patients. We have surgeons and Advanced Practice providers (APPs: physician’s assistants and nurse practitioners) at the hospital 24 hours a day to ensure immediate availability. We provide neurocritical care for brain injuries, mechanical ventilation for respiratory failure, support for shock, including sepsis, and other life support modalities. We also offer procedures that facilitate life-support, such as surgical feeding tubes and tracheostomy tube placement.

Trauma Care

The trauma surgery team acts as the primary team for patients with injuries from all mechanisms and coordinates with specialists such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, and many more. In addition, our trauma surgeons are experts in surgeries for intra-abdominal injuries, intrathoracic injuries, traumatic hemorrhage, and soft tissue injuries. We lead a multidisciplinary team of nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers, and care managers to maximize the recovery potential for each patient. We have an expert team of nurses and registrars that review all aspects of care and facilitate new approaches.  We participate in the American College of Surgeons Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) to continually improve patient outcomes.

Acute Care Surgery

CTACS surgeons provide a full spectrum of emergency general surgery. Some of the conditions we treat are appendicitis, gallbladder disease, diverticulitis, hernias, stomach and intestinal bleeding, blockage, or ischemia, soft tissue infections, and many others. Our surgeons are facile with minimally invasive techniques, including robotic surgery. We also offer elective general surgery for gallbladder disease, hernias, colostomy and ileostomy reversals, soft tissue mass removals, and others.
